Ellis Wins David Toms State Classic in Playoff

Johnathan Ellis from Baton Rouge (72-71,143) and Brayden Seguin from Zachary (72-71, 143) had to play extra holes to determine the winner of The Dave Toms State Classic competed April 7-8, 2018 at The Wetlands Golf Course in Lafayette. Johnathan and Brayden matched 36-36 on Saturday and 35-36 on Sunday to be tied after 36 holes. Johnathan eagled the par 5 eleventh on Sunday to take a one-shot lead. A bogey at the par 3 sixteenth resulted in extra holes being needed to determine the champion. Johnathon birdied the first playoff hole for the victory. Britton Khalaf from Metairie (74-70, 144) finished third.


Fontenot and Boudreau Also Claim Titles



Kale Fontenot


In the junior boys, Kale Fontenot and Jay Mendell, both from Lafayette, shot 78-75, 153 and also needed an extra hole to determine the champion. Kale and Jay both had good looks at birdie on the first playoff hole. Kale found the bottom of the cup for the victory. Canon Clark (83-72, 155) played a solid round on Sunday to finish third. Madeline Boudreau from Covington (85-85, 170) won the girls title.
